Los Angeles is home to some of the largest organizations in California. Like most large cities, it depends on technology to run its businesses, hospitals, schools, and airports. And a great deal of this technology consists of computers, with data storage drives that are vital to their operation. Although a computer/hard drive can be replaced in case of an accident, the data may not be so fortunate. Businesses heavily rely on their data to function. This could be emails, list of clients, documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and databases. The same goes for the home user. Not everyone has a backup, not all backups are safe.
In case of hard drive failure, many residents and business leaders of Los Angeles turn to the city?s Data Recovery firms. Data recovery is the process of salvaging data from damaged, failed, corrupted, or inaccessible secondary storage media when it cannot be accessed normally. The most common data recovery scenario involves an operating system (OS) failure, in which case the goal is simply to copy all wanted files to another disk. This can be accomplished with a Live CD, most of which provide a means to mount the system drive and backup disks or removable media, and to move the files from the system disk to the backup media with a file manager or optical disc authoring software. However, there can be complications even with this process, and having a professional conduct the procedure can ensure that the job is done efficiently and expeditiously.
Another scenario involves files that have been ?deleted? from a storage medium. Typically, deleted files are not erased immediately; instead, references to them in the directory structure are removed, and the space they occupy is made available for later overwriting. In the meantime, the original file may be restored.
A third scenario is physical damage to a storage medium. When this occurs, it usually requires extensive and specialized assistance for recovery. Indeed, most physical damage cannot be repaired by end users. For example, opening a hard disk drive in a normal environment can allow airborne dust to settle on the platter and become caught between the platter and the read/write head, causing new head crashes that further damage the platter and thus compromise the recovery process. Furthermore, end users generally do not have the hardware or technical expertise required to make these repairs. Consequently, data recovery companies are often employed to salvage important data.
The sophisticated procedures used by data recovery companies in physical recovery include removing a damaged PCB (printed circuit board) and replacing it with a matching PCB from a healthy drive, performing a live PCB swap, read/write head assembly with matching parts from a healthy drive, and removing the hard disk platters from the original damaged drive and installing them into a healthy drive. Indeed, such firms often use a combination of all of these procedures in physical recovery.
Data recovery firms in Los Angeles have the experience and expertise to deal with all of the contingencies discussed above. The process of data recovery can be complex. And data recovery experts can manage such processes effectively and without further incident.
