Building a list is the most important thing you can do for your business. Hundreds or thousands of businesses neglect this important marketing task that is actually quite simple to accomplish. Whether you are an internet marketer or a traditional business owner, there is no reason not to start a list building policy.
When building a list there is one thing you will require-incentive. People need incentive to consent to receiving mail or email from you on a regular basis. Your incentive can be a newsletter, advance news of special promotions, or a members only discount. If you are building your list using a website, your incentive might be an e-course, e-book or other digitally transferred material of value to your customers and potential customers.
There are two main ways you can build your list, online or off line. You should be using a combination of these if you are a traditional business owner.
To build a list online you will need a lead capture page and an autoresponder. If you can integrate your autoresponder and your offline list building efforts so much the better.
To build a list offline you can leave a signup sheet with a sign showing the incentive that customers will receive for joining your list. You might also include your lead capture page website on a receipt with information about what the customer will receive if the join your list online. Another option might be to send out a direct mail piece with information about your website and bonus offers for list members. You can use any combination of these and your own ideas to create a large list of current and potential customers.
